Castle (Qala’al Salah ad-Din) located 24km east atop a wooded ridge and surrounded by ravines.
Citadel (Qala’at Marqab) - founded 1062 as Muslim stronghold and fell to crusaders in 12th century; dungeon; fell to Mamelukes (1285).
Ruins include: walls and towers, ruined interior, churches, flanked by gorges, drawbridge.
