Crusader Cities

Port city once held by the Egyptians which fell to the Crusaders (23/8/1153) after a siege. The city was rebuilt and fortified (June 1189).

It fell again to the Egyptians (1239) and was then given to the Imperial representatives of Richard of Cornwall (1241). It was captured from the Christian by Aiyub (1246).

"For my part, I adhere to the maxim of antiquity: The throne is a glorious sepulchre."
