Crusader Cities

Lordship and town of which 35% was held by the Hospitallers and 25% held by the Templars (1230s - 1250s). It was taken by the Saracens (1220s) - however 70% of the lordship was held in religious hands by 1229-1241. It was fortified by King Louis IX of France (1251). It fell to Baybars (1265).

Remains of walled crusader city with citadel and harbour.

"For my part, I adhere to the maxim of antiquity: The throne is a glorious sepulchre."
